Small bathroom organization proving to be a challenge?
When you have a small bathroom, you have to make every.square.inch.count β and these small bathroom organization hacks can help get you there. It can feel impossible to keep everything organized at all, never mind making it look cute and stylish!
Take it from someone who lives with a 6’5 man in a one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo π
But with these decor tips and style tricks, hopefully youβll be able to find a few ways to keep all your bathroom toiletries, makeup and cleaning products organized and tucked away β that way your tiny bathroom still feels like a mini spa you get to visit daily!
Thatβs the kind of everyday βformal normalβ I love π
Ahead, check out eleven top tips & small bathroom organization hacks.
Small bathroom hack #1: Use an over-the-toilet shelving unit.
The space above the toilet is often underutilized, but it’s the perfect spot to store extra towels and toilet paper.
The best part about an over-the-toilet shelving unit like this is that it works for rented homes or apartments β no marks in the wall!
This one with four cubby shelves and a cabinet (with doors to cover up the madness!!) has nearly a perfect five-star rating:
Shop this exact over-the-toilet shelving unit on Amazon.
Small bathroom organization hack #2: Use free floating shelves.
If you have funky spacing (or just like a more minimalist feel) free-floating shelves over the toilet might be a better option.
Or, do both! Your free floating shelves can go on the wall opposite the sink, AND you could have something over the toilet.
Here are some cute floating shelves from Amazon that are inexpensive but look really nice:

Small bathroom hack #3: Turn baskets into hanging storage units.
For a gorgeous, inexpensive storage option, try using simple wire baskets sideways! You can actually get a little more oomph out of these versus floating shelves many times, because the baskets are so deep.
This idea is obviously customizable based on your personal taste and bathroom decor, but you can’t go wrong with a sleek wire basket.
These baskets should work well for a project like that (LOVEEEE the rose gold!!!):

Small bathroom hack #4: Maximize underneath the sink!
If you can’t go over the toilet … go UNDER the sink!
Many bathrooms (especially the standard kind in newer rentals) have under-the-sink cabinets, but a lot of older units have free-standing sinks.
And you can squeeze out a little more storage with this little guy:
It’s not as “hidden” as a closed cabinet, but it keeps the clutter off the counter, right?!
Small bathroom hack #5: Get over-the-door hanging storage!
OK, HOW did I not know about these?!?!
You can double (or triple!) your medicine cabinet space β absolutely brilliant.
Small bathroom hack #6: Find an extra skinny shelf.
Slip in a strategically slim standing shelf β perfectly shaped for extra toilet paper rolls, cleaning supplies and tissues.
This one has good reviews too:
Small bathroom hack #7: Tackle your hair tools.
Check THIS out! It’s a hair tool organizer that’ s so perfect for sliding over your bathroom cabinet door. (I’m ordering one of these to go on the cabinet door under my sink!!!)
I can’t get over how smart this is.
And look, it could even be mounted on the wall so you can easily plug in your hair dryer and have a place to set it while you style.
Anyone who has ever attempted an at-home hair blowout will understand how amazing this would be for tired arms!
Small bathroom hack #8: Clear your countertop with a makeup organizer.
Organize your most-used makeup and go-to moisturizers with a cute acrylic stand for your countertop. Even though it’s not tucked away behind a shelf, this will help keep all the odds and ends from rolling around on your counter while you get ready!
I have one that looks like this:
Small bathroom hack #9: Use space-saving stackable storage bins under the sink.
These clear acrylic storage bins not only are stackable and space saving, but I love that they are clear so that you can see all the bits and bobs that are rolling around in there!
The best part is that they neatly stack one on top of the other, building a customized set of drawers perfectly suited to your cabinet space.
And when you need one, you can simply pop it out and take it to your vanity, your bathroom counter, wherever!

Small bathroom organization hack #10: Use a caddy to get your shower in ship-shape.
The pink moldy ring on the ledge of the tub around the bottom of the shampoo bottle is the WORST thing ever β can I get an amen?!
Lift your troubles away with a nice shower caddy π
There are a ton of varieties out there now that can work with double shower heads or extra tall ones. Don’t skimp too much here, the cheap plastic ones can slide forward on the shower head and drive you nuts. Go ahead and invest in a good one.
The one shown above is a little bit pricier compared to some others, but it has over 3,000 awesome reviews on Amazon PLUS it comes with a 5-year warranty!!
This caddy is less expensive, but also has good reviews:
Small bathroom hack #11: Make a mason jar storage rack.
If you’re feeling crafty…
Head over to The DIY Playbook to see a step-by-step tutorial on creating your own mason jar hanging storage system!
This is such a clever way to store cotton balls, makeup brushes, and other odds and ends that tend to pile up in the bathroom.
If you’re not into the DIY approach, you can buy something similar here on Amazon for less than $39.
